Asmodean

Asmodean is probably the man among the Forsaken with the strangest reason for pledging to the Shadow. A dark-eyed, dark-haired, handsome man, Joar Addam Nessosin was an acclaimed composer before the War of the Shadow. Born in the small port city of Shorelle, he was a child prodigy in composition and performance on a wide range of instruments. He never fulfilled his early promise, at least not to the extent expected. Works he composed were performed in many great cities, but he never rose to the exalted heights many foretold, and was never ranked among the great composers of the Age. It is reported that his reason for dedicationg his soul to the Shadow was the promise of immortality, which he thought would help him reach greatness.

He never held any field commands, though he did take part in a large number of battles and served as governor of conquered lands. His administrations were not as horrific as some of the other Forsaken, but one atrocity which was specifically his has been overlooked by historians ecause of the smaller number of people involved, but it should not be. Artists of all sorts whom he disapproved of were blinded and/or maimed. Any artist could find themselves an object of his dissaproval, but it was mostly aimed at musicians and composers who were his rivals before the War. The horror in this can only be stated by the fact that there was no torture involved: The unfortunate was simply made incapable of producing his or her art again and then released.

After escaping the Bore, he allied uneasily with Lanfear, posing as the bard Jasin Natael, until she trapped him into being a teacher for Rand Al'Thor. He died in Caemlyn, killer unknown.
