Governmental Structure of Andor
Type: Monarchy, a Queen
Origin of present government: The first Queen of Andor, Ishara, established the precedent of a female ruler. The current Queens are expected to be able to trace their lineage to Ishara.
Order of Succession: Through the female side of the family.
Choosing a Successor: Each daughter of the present queen becomes the Daughter-Heir, and is expected to become the proper ruling Queen. However, if there is a doubt about the succession, the claimant who has the most support among other nobles and can claim the strongest lineage to the first Queen, Ishara, will be crowned Queen.
Nobility: Nobility in Andor is primarily decided through wealth and lineage. The Nobility are in families commonly called "Houses," and "Minor Houses." These Nobility are crucial for support for the Ruling House, and ultimately, the Queen and Daughter-Heir.
Governmental Structure of Cairhein
Type: Monarchy, a King or Queen
Origin of present government: After the War of the Hundred Years, the first King of Cairhein, Matraine Colmcille was crowned.
Order of Succession: The most powerful House in Cairhein becomes the ruling House and King.
Choosing a Successor: The Houses of Cairhein decide who is the most powerful House and they are crowned the ruler of the country. The country of Cairhein, because of the order of succession, has developed a intrigue-filled and very political social system, called Daes Dae'mar. Each house, each member of each House, is extremely suspicious and back-stabbing, everyone who has a chance to become the ruler of Cairhein takes it.
Nobility: Nobility in Cairhein is primarily decided through wealth and prestige. The Nobility are in families commonly called "Houses," and "Minor Houses." These Nobility are crucial for support for the Ruling House.
Governmental Structure of Tear
Type: Oligarchy, ruled by the most powerful Houses, called the High Lords of Tear
Origin of present government: Tear was founded by a group of Nobles from other countries, and has remained ruled by Nobles.
Order of Succession: There is no succession: it depends on which house is most powerful at the time. Children are next in line for each individual house.
Choosing a Successor: As the government is comprised of several ruling Houses, this number often changes, depending on the wealth and status of each House at the time. It fluctuates often.
Nobility: Nobility in Tear is primarily decided through wealth and status. The Nobility are in families commonly called "Houses," and "Minor Houses." These Nobility are the ruling body in Tear.
